Kya Lou was born and raised in San Diego, CA and now continues her practice in Los Angeles.

Lou’s practice is steeped in the roles of photography, colour grading, sculpture, video, audio, and performance. As a queer artist of color, her work questions her existence within the framework of the study of social, political and cultural histories.

Her study is concerned with the existence of certain bodies as branches without roots and how that makes things come round in queer ways.
